Dendritic Opal is a white opal with inclusions named dendrites for their often branch like shapes. These inclusions are thought to carry the spirit of the woods, a connection to nature and a reminder that we are all one.
Opal is often thought to be a magical stone of intuition, dreamwork and understanding. Unfortunately opals have a bad reputation thanks to a fantasy novel written in 1829 which had a cursed opal in it. Due to popularity, the rumors of “malevolent” opals has spread by word. However Opal’s history goes all the way back to ancient Greece and Rome as a stone of prophecy, protection and good luck. Romans associated Opal with the goddess of love, Venus and even Arabia thought of Opals as beautiful crystals fallen from the sky in the form of lightning bolts.
This piece is handwoven in clear coat enameled genuine copper. The clear coat of enamel protects the copper from patina and damage. Natural patina over time may occur, any copper safe polish will restore its beautiful shine. Do not expose to water over long periods of time; this will speed up the patina process.
