It seems if you were to find yourself on the wrong side of a wrathful body of water you were sure to encounter some trouble.
As deep as the ocean, as complex as the creatures within it, there lies an unfathomable variety of Merfolk. The Lionfish commands respect with her venomous spines making her song the least of your worries.

In the cold of a dark winter’s night you sleepily wander to the kitchen. The clicking of your stove and the warm steam of a kettle brewing bring comfort as you reach for a mug. The mug you choose feels slightly heavier than you remember, but you’re not fully awake so you don’t mind. Tossing a teabag in, you pick up the kettle and hear the drizzle of warm steamed water filling your cup. But you don’t remember your kettle making that hiss before…
A yelp escapes your mouth as you jump back from the counter and a small pair of eyes peek up at you from the hot liquid. This 3 inch tall fire dragon seems to love your hot freshly brewed tea. You sigh and grab a second mug.

You’re on a beautiful evening stroll through the woods you’ve walked a million times. The dirt paths feel like home underfoot as you let your mind wander through it’s usual cycle of dreams and worries. Suddenly your foot slips, at first you chalk it up to your daydreaming… until a low rumble sounds. You dust yourself off only to be met by a giant emerald green stone. Marveling, for a second you think you’ve found a long lost treasure… until the stone blinks. Be careful where you step.

Beware the beautiful; a charming smile, a loving gaze. Faerie Folk look and talk just like us when they mean to. My Grandmother always warned us away from the woodland’s edge but her warnings never quite stuck. Until I met her. Beautiful, bewildering, brilliant… and then the sun went behind the clouds. An odor rose to my lips as Grandmother’s warning blared in my previously hazy mind. Are… those mushrooms?

Imaginary friends come in all shapes and sizes. They play wonderful games and bring smiles to many faces. Every family has them, every generation brings new games. But when mine came in through the window with a too-wide grin, moving a little too stiffly and sporting my face I couldn’t help but be nervous. “Don’t be afraid” she cooed in my voice.
We played for a few minutes before I realized it was probably time for dinner. As I got up from the tub to take my towel she mentioned the banquet her family would be serving, just over the hill. My mouth watered at all the delicious treats; she already knew what I liked.
But I sighed as I dried off and mentioned my Mother would worry. Suddenly the bathroom door flung open, Mother threw herself on top of me sobbing and as I glanced over her shoulder my new friend was gone. “You’ve been gone for a week! Where have you been?” I blinked, surely it had only been a few moments…
To this day I remember her too-wide grin on a fuzzy face that I swore was much like mine…
